Whatever It Takes!

The Johnny Mac Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed by John’s wife, Jennifer after his death in August 2009 of 9/11 related cancer. John was an FDNY Firefighter and caring for others was what he did. In a list of final wishes, John asked to have a community center built in Blue Point, NY. In accord with John’s motto “whatever it takes,” the Foundation now works tirelessly to fulfill that wish. In addition, the Foundation supports other 9/11 first responder organizations. John’s last wishes were written down and electronically scanned.

Caitlyn’s Vision Food DriveThe Johnny Mac Foundation, guided by FDNY Firefighter John F. McNamara’s motto, “Whatever it takes,” recently continued its commitment to community support by partnering with the wonderful non-profit, Caitlyn’s Vision.

Our dedicated Foundation Board Member, Missy Mirabelli, stepped up to ensure a successful delivery of food to the Caitlyn’s Vision Food Drive, embodying the spirit of selflessness that John cherished and lived by. This effort highlights the foundation’s dedication not just to our core mission of supporting 9/11 First Responders and building the Blue Point Community Center, but also to helping other incredible causes in our local area.

Shining a Light on Caitlyn’s Vision

We are honored to lend a hand to an organization doing such crucial work, particularly for children. Caitlyn’s Vision is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit that strives to help children and others with visual impairments. Their mission is driven by a determination to prevent childhood blindness and to promote the importance of routine eye exams.

Their work is vital, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to see a better future. The food drive is just one example of how they extend their care beyond their primary focus, recognizing the broader needs of the families they serve.

Community Supporting Community

The collaboration between the Johnny Mac Foundation and Caitlyn’s Vision is a beautiful example of how small non-profits on Long Island can work together to achieve big results.

John McNamara’s philosophy was simple: work hard, play hard, love and be loved, but most of all, care about others. From his brave service at Ground Zero and during Hurricane Katrina, to his relentless advocacy for the Zadroga Act, John’s life was defined by putting the needs of others before his own.

When you support the Johnny Mac Foundation, you support that legacy—a legacy that drives us to support First Responders and local initiatives like this food drive.

We want to give a huge shout-out to the team at Caitlyn’s Vision for their tireless efforts!

Thank you to everyone who supports both of our missions. Together, we can continue to do whatever it takes to make a difference in our community!
